Mrs. Balbir's Monthly Indian Market Tour
Mrs. Balbir and a gang of eager friends visit the Indian Market officially called Phahurat district, once a month. Visiting the thriving Indian community means being at the heart of the textile and garment industry, amongst all the other colorful happenings at that part of town. Fresh aromatic spices and samosas fill the air - it's the mini India safely nestled close to Chinatown. Famous hotspots include Bollywood movie stores, the 1932 Sikh Temple proud with aesthetic beauty and varied Hindu religious memorabilia close by. Also seen are spice sales and cheap Indian trinklets, clothes stores & sweets to tempt your tooth and hold you astounded by the rich colored culture.
Held every last Sunday of the month, you'll get a chance to visit the Indian Emporium and get briefed on the strong history of how the Indians came around to settling in Thailand long ago, what's what, and where you can find that which your heart desires.
Starting at 9 a.m. up until 1.30 p.m. the tour ends with a lunch at Mrs.
Balbir's restaurant. Price is 950 B per person including lunch & transportation.
